Frequently Asked Questions
My fuse keeps tripping - what causes it?
Three causes account for most cases: an overloaded circuit, earth leakage from a faulty appliance, or a short circuit in the wiring. We test to identify which. Simply resetting it and carrying on is not a fix - the fuse is reporting a real problem, and ignoring it carries a fire risk.
A socket is hot or smells burnt. What should I do?
Unplug whatever is connected and switch off that circuit at the board if you can, then call us. Heat and burning smells usually mean a loose terminal connection or a load the socket cannot carry. This is not a fault to leave until next week.
Do you charge if you cannot find the fault?
If we cannot identify the fault, we do not charge for labour. When we do find it and no parts need replacing, we bill only the work actually done rather than inventing a cost.
